Built by Dan Smith & John Paige in 1982 & used by Ritchie Blackmore on the 1984 Deep Purple Reunion Tour,
Dan wrote Ritchies name on the end of the neck adjacent to the truss rod adjustment to the Hex bolt, the guitar was designed to be Ritchis back up guitars & is virtually identical to his main white strat of that time.
As with most of Ritchies guitars, this strat was delivered to Rich’s guitar tech John (Dawk) Stillwell of Dawk Sound Ltd (RIP Dawk). Click here to read the full story behind the guitar.
Complete with original Fender Hardshell case with period Deep Purple backstage passes, the guitar is also photographed & discussed in the UK Publication “More Black Than Purple” Issue 36 Autumn 2008, this magazine features Ritchie’s 1961 ES335 which we also have for sale once the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are through with their Deep Purple Exhibition in 2017.
